The tags/keywords navigation isn't always useful. For example, if one wants to return to a previously seen message, it's not.

This will maybe become more visible as the number of messages slowly grows (they are less than 100 now).

There probably needs to be a search field.

It is not obvious how to inject it into the current interface without creating more problems (confusion) than benefits.

The confusion would maybe come from a conflict with the existing names/keywords fields in the

The recent glorum update included a new way to track and use the +/- feedback data.

The previous approach was as simple as

1) count how many + and - an item received
2) check for a limit
3) limit reached? delete the item

The system was able to slowly delete the few spam posts received in the past few weeks. It was, actually even sophisticated for current glorum levels of traffic.

But an approach of that type is weak, at least. I think it would be unrealistic to believe it could

A new version of glorum is going to be installed right now. Current data will not be lost.

The new version includes some new ideas, an improved layout/interface and a few fixes.

The most important introduction is that you now have a dual (modular) navigation, by user and by tag. That's the main news.

Another nice thing is that as people interact with glorum, they get tagged. It now shows 3 tags under each username.

Ideally, this would give me an idea about what kind of messages I am

I have just fixed a few bugs and have been experimenting with a couple of changes to glorum.

I would like to find a second criteria for surfing messages. Basically have 2 menus instead of 1: the existing topics/tags on the right and another menu on the left. Ideally I could use both menus at the same time.

In the next few days I will post something about this, with some screens, if possible.

If anyone can think of any alternative way of surfing messages that is not the current topics/

2 new features are coming in the next couple of days:

- RSS feeds

There will be a feed for the home page, one for tags and one for users.

Feeds make some sense even now that the community is so small, since they allows anyone interested in glorum, icluding me to keep in touch with it without requiring a visit (and typically see that nothing was posted).

- Private Messages

Some new commands will be available:

The text at the top-left of the page (after glorum/>) is editable. Type 'help' to view a list of the keywords currently available.

It is currently meant to be a cleaner alternative to direct url-manipulation when moving to a tag or user which is not linked in the current page.

As the community evolves, some "geek" features will be made available as command-line--only (not available as links in the visual interface).

Any comment or suggestion about this would be great.

What is this?

It's an experimental message board. The version currently online works in a way similar to any web forum or usenet group, with a few differences.

- No Categories/Groups
Messages are organized with tags. There isn't a central topic. Any topic is ok as long as messages are tagged appropriately.

- No Moderators
Messages can be filtered by anyone with a click on "+" or "-" near each message. If enough people click on "-" the message is deleted.
