About it needing a bit more love, I have a vague idea about what you mean, infoarchitect. I tend to agree in some way. It feels maybe cold and somewhat antipathic.
I will try to counter-balance this effect.
But with a bit of immagination, we could see it this way: do communities interfaces need to be made of plastic or flesh?
Or more realistically: do web interfaces need to be "mute"/commands-only (like most desktop interfaces) or should they "talk" (the helping puppet in ms office comes to my mind)?
In other words, are online "communities" *really* communities, places or simply databases which you can query? I guess it is subjective.
