Own food, own life
That saving money is very similar to earning money is an old maxime.

Comes to my mind that, when taxes and expenses get so high as now, if you can creatively cut an expense of 1 euro without losing anything as of quality or other parameters, you have earned fairly more that 1 euro. Beyond the learning and (an assumption) simplification associated with it.

Also comes to me that, if one has a chance (owns some small piece of land or finds an alternative to that) some personal agriculture is a healthy (also economically) part-time activity.

Fishing, too, certainly.
Probably a lot of things, making some furniture?

I will have to think a little more about a list of things:
to what extent one can take care of the basics in a simple way, very practically and compatibly with a normality, howerver it is intended today (not as utopy or science fiction).

I'm agree with you. Life is getting so expensive and even if we don't see it we burn money.

Why do I have to buy tomatoes if I can have a little plant out of my balcony? Will look very nice at home and we will eat fresh vegetables. The same with another edible plants as lettuce. We could use hydrophonia's method, will be very nice to try.

I will post pics of my experiment at home, will do as they teach you at kindergarden, will use a wet cotton ball and place a bean or another seed inside. Will make you see how the little plant grows and if I was able to get little beans for eating them :-P

Ciao:-) I'm farmers daughter and here comes my hints. If a person owns piece of land suitable for planting it is easy to grow vegetables, herbs, tomatoes, carrots, pumpkins, fresh cucumber, zucchini, potatoes, beans, strawberries etc.. Have own fruit trees (apples, pears, citrus). Naturally gardening takes time, but that is rewarding and you have fresh food on your table. Pickup wildberries and mushrooms on woods. Fishing. There are plenty of otions to save money. If a person does not own piece of land and lives in a town are there farmers who sell their products directly on their own farms, not only on public market places. To find savings on electricity consumption is a topic here in Finland.

This is very interesting, thanks for the tips Marjatta :-) The vegetables you suggest are the ones let's say "more easy" to plant for starting, right? Also the fruit ones.

We had at my father's house some oranges, mandarins and pomegranates trees, we didn't had to do so much for getting fresh fruit each year.

I think is a very valid option these days and very funny to do. :-)
