Like water for chocolate
This is a mexican movie that always reminds me of my great grandmother who lived in Mexican Revolution... back in 1910... and her way of cooking, this movie is one of the most famous mexican movies and one of my favorite movies all over. The love story, the characters of mexican women who are actually like that.

The old idea was that the younger daughter could only get married once the mother had died, because it was her responsibility to take care of her mother. I'm glad it's not like that anymore, because I'm the youngest in my family!!! If you have a chance, please watch it... I always relate myself to Tita :)

This is one of the first movies of what we called "Nuevo cine mexicano" (New mexican cinema) after a very bad period of silly comedies they used to in the 70's and 80's.

This movie is based in the book of the same name "Como agua para chocolate" (Like water for chocolate) written by Laura Esquivel.

I have seen it so many times, even when I was very young and remember always the scene where Tita cooks a dish made of quail and rose petals for the guy she liked . :-)
